Hi Nick, I used to live in Ashford Avenue and used to hang around outside your house with some mates to listen to you rehearse? with the original DP You may or may not remember telling me that if I bought a guitar you would teach me which you duly kept your promise until you went on tour and sent me off to a guitar teacher in Southall who had also taught Pete Townsend. That incident and my Grammar school art teacher instilled an enduring love for music which I still have today. I occasionally saw the van around Brookside Road when I ventured back to Hayes every now and again and was glad to stumble on this website and read your story. I had forgotten how many good artists were in and around the Hillingdon area and also brought back memories of Steve Priest & Brian Conelly drinking in the Queens Head in among hordes of hairy arsed bikers and being completely unfazed. Best wishes for you and yours for the future.

Hi - I've got a web page dedicated to the Victorian composer Caleb Simper (www.cul.co.uk/music/compx.htm), and wondered if he was any relation? He had three children Alfred Thomas Simper, Edwin Caleb Simper and Roland Chalmers Simper... it would be a nice coincidence!

".....The performance of "Ritual" for the Beat Club session has reappeared, although this time it's a dreadful second generation copy that looks like it's been recorded on a mobile phone from a cheap TV screen....." Dear friends and Nick,I am the guilty one for above youtube video.I have dvd of that fameous #31 beat club episode with ritual in excelent condition.I did this poor camera-tv shot (must say from 55" hd screen!?!)thinking that video will be banned from youtube regarding beat club complaints. I promise i will put original picture soon! Warhorse is THE LEGENDARY BAND AND ONE OF ROCK GIANTS OF ALL TIME! peace from Ontario, Radenko (aka Outdemonsout)

Nick - "I'm so glad" to know you're still out there making music. I've been a fan of DP Mk1 since my early teens. Your bass lines were very influential as at age 15 I switched from piano to bass [as God intended!]. "Chasing Shadows" ranks as one of the greatest bass lines of all time. Thanks very much for inspiring me and providing untold numbers of hours of enjoyment listening to you play. God bless. May you enjoy long life filled with good times, good friends, and great music.

Hi Nick great to read 'your story' esp, as we lived in Frogmore House, from 57 to 64, my father ran ashop in Hayes, plus i went to Bishopshalt !, but amazingly, although being huge Purple fans during their formative years, we had never at the time realised that an Old Uxonian was one of the band..is the rumour correct that you are playing in Chalfont 23rd Jan ?

Hello Nick, How are you? Well I hope. I am writing to you via your website as my p.c. crashed and I lost your e mail address. Did you read the Chav Bird poem I sent you? The reason I ask this is because I have since been in the studio with a Reggae artist named Peter Hunnigale and we have produced a demo C.CD. for the record companies and radio stations. We have a meeting at 4.30p.m. this Tuesday with the music publishers Notting Hill Music and I was wondering if you had any advice you could send my way. Thanks for your time mate, All the best to you and Janet nd the family, Cheers Neil (Elsie's Grandson)
